Summary/Resumen:

The Güegüense, an award winning play, is originally a comedic-ballet of the colonial epic in Nicaragua that takes place between the 17th and 18th century. It is a street play from the colonial era of Nicaragua and has won the UNESCO award of "Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" in 2005 (http://www.unesco.org/culture/en/masterpieces/). In the play, the crafty Güegüense, satirizes and makes fun of the Spanish Governor Tastuanes. Beautifully illustrated and written in simple and direct language, this children’s version tries to represent, as much as possible, the theme of the original play. The book contains the original music from the Güegüense and video representations of the local modern day celebration. This is a bilingual multi-media story that can be viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 or above. After your payment has been received, you will be redirected to a download page to download both the English and Spanish version of the book. Thank you for your purchase.
